Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, ARA is instituting new procedures and precautions for the upcoming school year beginning August 12, 2020. Please see the following guidelines as you make plans for returning to school.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Carrie Suess at email@example.com or by phone at 512.392.9475.
Daily practices for our best health:
Upon arrival, students will enter the school through the gym doors and sit with only their classmates. This will restrict contact with students from other classrooms.
Students must wear masks or face shields when unable to practice social distancing of 6 feet.
Temperatures will be taken upon arrival to ARA, and during the day, if needed. Anyone having any temperature will be quarantined and required to return home. That individual will not be allowed to return until having been 72 hours free of any fever without requiring medication. Schoolwork will be sent home when a student is up to doing it.
Each classroom will have a station upon entering that students will use hand sanitizer. They will also receive cleaning products to disinfect and sanitize their seats and desks before sitting, and again before leaving the classroom.
Students will remain in their homeroom classrooms throughout the day. Teachers will move from classroom to classroom for departmentalized classes.
Lockers will not be in use until the pandemic has cleared.
Every student will have his/her own personal desk.
All interior doors will remain open during the school day to prevent multiple hands from opening and closing the door. Students will be reminded to wash their hands for a minimum of 20 seconds.
Posters will be throughout the school to remind students of social distancing and prevention guidelines.
We will not be scheduling any field trips until it is safe to do so.
Afterschool care will be available with the same social distancing guidelines.
Each staff member will undergo special training on virus mitigation and the importance of teaching, reinforcing, practicing hand hygiene, and covering coughs and sneezes.
Our current food service system meets the guidelines. One change will be that hot lunch plates will be brought to the classroom instead of students entering the kitchen.
Outside playground equipment will be frequently cleaned.
We will avoid mixing student groups from different classrooms to avoid cross-contamination.
ARA will be working through a FOUR day school week. We will meet on campus Monday through Thursday for normal school hours, 8:00 - 3:10 pm. Friday students will remain at home for instruction. PreK-4th grades will have a packet to accomplish for the day to be returned on the following Monday. Grades 5-10th will have online instruction in google classrooms each Friday and may have online meetings via google meet or zoom.
Each Friday, ARA will post our chapel worship video for students to view with their families. They will receive their bible credit for viewing this video.
